The fish-footman began by producing from under his arm a great letter, nearly as large as himself, and this he handed over to the other , saying in a solemn tone," For the duchess. An invitation from the queen to play. pg. 44
Q what does it mean by to play? CL maybe the footman means for them to have tea or a game of actual chess. Is it a battle that they will have for somthing the duchess has.One thing for sur is that the queen wants to see the duchess and soon.E what the queen wants to tell the duchess may be in fact very long.
"I shall sit here,"the footman remarked, "till tomorrow--" At that moment the door of the house opened, and a large plate came skimming out,.............-- "or next day , maybe." pg 45
P Im guessing that they want him gone. He could over hear somthing or see something.Or maybe the they just don't like the smell of fish.Q what is so important that he has to tell that he will have to stay until she comes out? CLThe queen just want it directly delivered to the duchess that is why he has to wait.
