“You can’t think how glad I am to see you again, you dear old thing!” P.73

(Q) Why is the duchess so pleased to see Alice when she was so mean earlier on? (R) The duchess was being abusive what I assume was her child, and was very upset. Why is she so happy now? (P) Could it be that she was supposed to get executed and now that she sees someone she knew she feels relief? Or, could it be that she is happy because she is no longer stuffed in a room with alot of pepper? It could even be that she feels relief, after getting rid of who I assume was her child? (C) I feel weird to know that she may have possibly been happy because she is rid of her child, but it seems to have been for the better. After All, it is now wandering about being a pig.

“I quite agree with you...” P.75

(C) It seems like the duchess is in such a good mood that she is agreeing with absolutely everything Alice says. At the moment Alice is not even concentrating on what she is saying. (Q) Why does Carroll switch so suddenly? (C) He is like those people who talk about their dog then suddenly switch to talking about diseases? Very different subjects don’t you think? I am confused. I was reading about the duchess and her sharp chin and suddenly I learn that the mock turtle is depressed because he is not a real turtle. This is the most plot twisting book I’ve read for a while.
